Kevin Goodman popped over to see us and we gave him a copy of Volume 4 it was the least we could do. Kevin has been a source of inspiration for a number of years and has been passionate about recording for posterity the Warminster scene. So it was good to see him.
Barry King also contacted us with regard to his UFO sighting which is contained in Volume 5 and we hope that he may be able to supply us with some additional information as time goes by.
Barry and Andrew Collins were involved in some spectacular investigations over the years, they included a sighting of a triangualr UFO at Hainhault Forest,seen by Police Officers and the Aveley case. We have of course consulted with both of these men about the incidents, and can promises some cracking reports which will be in Volume 5 and Volume 6.

With regard to Volume 5 we have nearly completed the script and are awaiting the result of analysis on some metal fragments that were claimed to have been recovered from the Berwyn Mountains in 1974, thanks to Terry Hooper a Bristol based UFO investigator whom we are impressed with.

Kevin Moore rang the other day he want us to go to Cardiff sometime in March and be interviewed about Haunted Skies, which we are looking forward to as it will boost the sales of the books.

We are sorry about the back cover of Volume 4 a number of people have contacted us pointing out the error, this was beyond any bodies control and we have learnt from the mistake. This Volume will be re-issued so expect a delay of approx a week please.

Arizona law enforcement agency investigates UFOs
UFO sightings routinely result in torrents of phone calls to newsrooms and police stations.
And while some police stations find UFO reports to be an unwanted nuisance,
a lawenforcement agency in Arizona welcomes reports of UFOs and other paranormal
phenomena.
Ten years ago, according to KPHO, the CBS affiliate in Phoenix, "officials on the NavajoReservation decided to stop the snickering, to treat these witnesses with
respect and thoroughlyinvestigate."This agency, known as the Navajo Nation Rangers, is a federal law enforcement resource,according to retired Lieutenant John Dover, and the management of national parks, fish andwildlife services, and archaeological sites are a few of the agency's responsibilities.

Dover's investigations have revealed a "wealth of information," and KPHO reports that theRangers recently shared with them photos and documents from dozens of

In December 2010 a lady from Droitwich had two experiences which would change her whole perception on life and reality. Towards the start of that month, she was abducted from her bedroom and underwent an examination procedure by non-human entities. After this initial experience she was deeply unsettled, so decided to set up a camera in her room to prove to herself that nothing was taking place. Within a week a second abduction occurred. And when she checked the footage the following morning, she was shocked to see that the camera had apparently recorded her de-materialising from the bed! After being forced to come to terms with what had happened, she realised that there were other related incidents leading right back to her childhood, and that she may well have experienced contact since an early age.

In early 2011 BUFOG chairman & investigator Dave Hodrien was passed details of the case and got in touch. Over numerous interviews and a hypnotic regression, the full details of what had taken place were slowly uncovered. Since then, the lady involved has spoken with numerous other individuals from the UFO field, and has also talked of her experiences at Exopolitics 2011 conference. UFO over Ashbury 1981

At 6.45 am. 9th July 1981, schoolboy - Wayne Disbury, was out on his ‘paper round’, when he noticed a bright white object on the ground, close to the B4000 road, which runs between Shrivenham and Ashbury, leading to the village of Kingstone Winslow. Thinking it was a plastic bag, he continued on his ‘round’.

At 7.35 am. Michael Winley - a member of the Royal Observer Corps, was driving to work along the B4000, heading towards Ashbury, when he noticed two horses in the field acting in an agitated manner. Thinking they were being worried by a dog, he stopped his car and got out, ready to chase off the animal.

“I was surprised to see a bright object on the ground, near to the horses, and assumed it might have been a meteorological balloon, and went over to pick it up. As I did so, the object, resembling a dustbin lid in shape, 2-3 feet in diameter, chrome top and black base, funnel or tube protruding from its centre, showing what looked like a small truncated cone on its front, with a number of small indentations around its perimeter, rose vertically upwards, between 150-200 feet off the ground, and flew silently over the head of Mr. Winley, and descended before coming to a halt, approximately 70 feet off the ground.”

A business colleague of Mr. Winley’s - Kevin Clarke, was driving along the same stretch of road, when he noticed Mr. Winley’s car, and pulled up at 7. 45 am. curious as to what was going on. After making his way over the field, he was astonished to see the object hovering in the air.

A few minutes later, another workmate - Raymond Millin, also turned up. He and the other two men stood watching it before it moved off towards the direction of Idstone, parallel to the B4000 - until lost from view.

At 8.05 am. Mr. & Mrs. Richardson, accompanied by Mr. & Mrs. Case, were travelling along the B4000, towards Swindon, in the opposite direction to the other witnesses, when they saw a small object approaching their position, 2-300 yards away, travelling slowly - no more than l0 mph. - described as being, ‘Two feet in diameter, by 8 inches deep - a light metallic colour, (mottled on top), with a dark base, showing indentations’.

Mr. Richardson noticed a small hollow tube sticking out of the base, although the others didn’t see this. He then stopped the car, adjacent to the field, and got out - in time to see it pass directly overhead,15-20 feet up – apparently, as if to land. At this stage, he decided to continue his journey to work

The incident was later brought to the attention of Marty Moffat, of the ‘SCUFORI’ UFO Group, who launched a thorough investigation into the matter, wondering whether a remote control balloon could have been responsible, but finally concluded, in view of the lack of any further information, to classify it as an unidentified object.

We would like to pay our respectsto Derek who died on the 25th of January 2012. This was his brief obituary mentioned in the Telegraph:

Derek David Dempster on January 25th aged 87. RAF and RAF uxAF 604Squadron (County of Middlesex) Squadron. Aviation, Journalist and Author.Dearly loved and loving husband of Jo, and much loved stepfather of Tamara Ustinova lovely, kind man who will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

We learnt of this demise through our friend, ex RAF Auxiliary Pilot James Salandin,MBE a few days ago He spoke once again of the now famous UFO incident that had happened in October 1954 and that if it hadn’t been for the assistance of the then Squadron Intelligence officer Derek Dempster, none of this would ever have been reported.

James was stationed at RAF North Weald, Essex, near Epping (then attached to *604 County of Middlesex Squadron), he escribed the mysterious encounter he had while on an air test, climbing towards Southend, Essex on 14th October 1954: Although we should point out that he cannot be sure of the exact date it may have been a few days earlier..............which gives much food for thought bearing in mind Staffordshire housewifes Jessie Roestenbergs UFO sighting of what appears to have been a similar UFO while living at Ranton.

“Still vivid in my memory, despite it having happened over 50 years ago, I dont talk about what I saw now mainly because of the ridicule attached to the subject"

Mr. Salandin, to whom we had the pleasure of speaking many times over the years, spoke about his service with the Fleet Air Arm and the RAF, having logged 1,800 hours flying time on a variety of aircraft, including 300 hours in the famous Spitfire.

*No. 604 Squadron RAF was notable for its pioneering role the development of radar controlled operations. The squadron was established in March 1930 at RAF Hendon as a day-bombing squadron of the Royal Auxiliary Air Force In July 1934, the squadron transitioned to two-seat fighters. Shortly after the commencement of hostilities in 1939, the squadron was reassigned to the night-fighter role.

No. 604 Squadron was initially disbanded in April 1945 as part of the near-end-of-war reduction of the Armed service It was reformed as an Auxiliary single-seat fighter squadron in May 1946, again at RAF Hendon. Final disbandment occurred in March 1957 with the dissolution of the Auxiliary Air Force.

“I took off at about 4.15pm. Flying conditions were perfect. When at aheight of some 16,000ft (see opposite) I noticed a number of contrails inthe sky, approximately 30 to 40,000ft, over North Foreland. Through themiddle of these trails I could see three objects, which at first I took to beaircraft, although there was no sign of any vapour trail that one would associate with the movement of an aircraft in high atmosphere. When theygot within a certain distance, two of them went off to my port side; one wasgold in colour, the other silver. The third object headed towards me andclosed to within a few hundred yards, almost filling the middle of the aircraftwindscreen before departing towards my port side. I tried to turn andfollow, but it had disappeared from view. The object I saw through thefront cockpit of my Meteor 8 Jet Aircraft was saucer shaped, with a ‘bun’on top and underneath. I didn’t see any portholes, windows, or other exteriorextrusions that one would associate with the passage of an aircraft

At the time I was bound by the Official Secrets Act and if it hadn’t been forleaks, nothing more would have been heard of the incident. I have alwayssaid that I know what I saw and my story has never varied over the years –the picture is still clear in my mind. However, I have not at any time givenan opinion as to my thoughts on the subject but I feel that now is the momentto do so. Since my wife, Margaret, passed away nearly two years agoI’ve had plenty of time to reflect and would like to voice my true feelings, as most people appear to be sceptical or just not interested in UFOs.I was a volunteer in the Fleet Air Arm, from 1943 until demob in 1947, my flight training being with the United States Navy, after which I served with 604 County of Middlesex Fighter Squadron ‘R’ Auxiliary Air Force from1947 until we were disbanded in 1957.The last five years of my service I was ‘B’ Flight Commander. During thisDecade, 604 were equipped with Spitfires, Vampires, and Gloster Meteors,he Squadron motto being, ‘Si vis pacem para bellum’, (If you want peaceprepare for war!) I mention all of this because I was an experienced pilotand I have never seen, in all the years of my service, anything like I saw on that day.”

At the time of producing Volume 1 of Haunted Skies we spoke,to Derek Dempster M.A, RAF test pilot with the North Weald Squadron from 1948 onwards, and personal friend to James, who inspired his interest in UFOs.

Derek was educated, initially, at the French Lycee Regnault in Tangier, and completed his schooling in England in 1942, when he then volunteered for the RAF and was sent to Southern Rhodesia, for pilot training.

On his commission, after receiving his ‘wings’, he qualified as a flying instructor. In the mid 1950s he left the RAF and took up a position as air correspondent for the Daily Express newspaper. He was then able to sift through reports of UFOs and decide whether further investigations should be carried out.

He was asked to review a copy of Flying Saucers have Landed by George Adamski and Desmond Leslie, which increased his curiosity into the UFO subject. Unfortunately, owing to a disagreement with theeditor of the newspaper over the grounding of the world’s first passenger jet, the Comet, he left the Daily Express and started his new job as first editor of FSR at Werner Laurie Publishers, in Doughty Street, London. He was assisted by the following people: Waveney Girvan (publisher), Lewis Barton(editor of This Week, illustrated magazine), The Honorable Brinsley Le Poer Trench (an accountantat the South African Embassy), Dennis Montgomery (librarian) and Gordon Creighton (diplomat).

“We held meetings at Westminster, Caxton Hall, near Scotland Yard. Webelieved these things were coming in from outer space, and we were tryingo prove this with science. We had some allies, such as Peter Horsley, whohad been Station Commander, at North Weald, and was then Equerry toPrince Philip. Also, we received collaboration from Henry Chinnery, whowas Horsley’s successor.

Both men had a keen interest in keeping the Palace posted on ‘flying saucers’and we used to exchange files with them. There was also a shorthandwriter for Lord Mountbatten - named Dan Lloyd, who was an ex-Royal Navyman. He was also very interested in ‘flying saucer’ matters and shared thisinterest and new research material with Mountbatten. It was said, at thetime, that Mountbatten kept lever files of UFO photographs to show visitorson the bridge of the warships when he was at sea. I met George Adamski atthis time.I could see how terribly keen everybody was to embrace people like him,who claimed he had travelled to Venus. I was sceptical of him but wished toremained objective. What we were all living on, then, was hope and expectation.

We kept being shot down due to the activities of the lunatic fringe, who began to attach themselves to Ufology. I had to leave FSR because of the effect it had on my business interests in the aviation industry; apart fromthat, I was being regarded as a ‘nutcase’, whose opinion in aviation matterswas in question.”

Derek’s literary output includes The Inhabited Universe and Worlds in Creation,The Tale of the Comet with Kenneth Gatland and the award-winningThe Narrow Margin, with Derek Wood, which served as a source book for the film Battle of Britain.

This was the post war period of the 1950's following on from the spate of sightings of what became known as foo fighters, which were mysterious lights and triangular objects seen by allied and axis aircrew on both sides while on bombing missions over Germany and France

“We went through the usual routine and Sandra was soon asleep. I lay down and it started – blackness, with weird forms floating past. I sat up and put the torch on - now I knew it was not me. I thought okay, I’ll lie down and watch to see what all this was about. I settled down again, all the time mentally holding my only means of protection - the cross. The blackness descended again - then the forms appeared, whether my eyes were open or closed. Suddenly I heard a noise, like a huge iron door, slamming. It made me jump and I saw black metal bars of what looked like a portcullis - the type found in an old castle.

I felt myself passing along tables, or benches, all laid out with old black metal equipment or tools, which I couldn’t indentify. Behind them were chains, glinting, hanging from the wall, and the sounds of bolts being pushed hard into position. The witness also describes seeing a row of

black candles floating aorund the bed and a variety of animals, chickens

and what appeared to be a frog or toad!

Colonel Halt supports Haunted Skies!

Its nice to see Colonel Charles Halt showing a copy of Haunted Skies which was sent to him recently. We thank him for that, and he has all three Volumes with a promise of the fourth when it is avaliable to buy. We have no idea why it is taking so long and urge the many people that keep contacting us to be patient , it is a matter that is out of our hands.
We are also hoping that Edgar Mitchell one of the famous 'moonwalkers' will add his comment on the content of two volumes of Haunted Skies which he is in posession of, although he has rejected a suggestion for a foreword to one of the Volumes, which at the end of the day is of course his choice.

I dont often get around to replying to forums on the UFO subject as I am kept busy preparing Volume 5 which is nearing completion. Dawn has spent many hours proofing this document prior to taking it to the Publisher in early February. Ive been chasing up the many images to be used and can say that our old friend Wayne Mason is now back on line and preparing some computer generated images which are the 'cherry on the cake' with some of the more important cases. He is a credit to his Mum Elaine and we thank him for his assistance.
The UFO Status Quo (No its not the group!)
Here is a copy of part of what I wrote:to a blog the other day after reading that a so called UFO expert had suggested that all UFOs could be explained away as natural phenomena!

Whilst in my opinion there is no such a thing as a UFO expert there are some that know more than others, about a subject which still attracts the attention of the media.

Sadly there is a vast gulf between how the media treat such reports, in various documentaries on UFOs ( same old same old) and tabloid newspaper articles which seek to denigrate the subject, by offering that age old balanced perspective.

Sadly there is also a vast gulf between what the MOD declassifies and the real accounts from real people who have suffered all manner of medical maladies stretching from minor to serious.

One such case in 1994, involved a then serving Police Officer who was unfortunate to suffer the consequences after having sighted a saucer shaped object over the River Nene in Northamptonshire. The Police Officer went to see his Doctor after experiencing severe headaches and was given an MRI scan; the Doctor asked him if he had ever had an operation on the brain (No) because there was scarring on the brain! I have heard similar stories from people that have been exposed to the energies given off by these objects.

The problem is that we (the human participants) are not being given the opportunity to tell the media of sightings like this How long is the human race going to bury its head into the sands and deny something that stands in front of us, it is not about confrontation.

At the end of the day the evidence is overwhelming, but of course it was in 1947, in the States and in the UK during 1977 and 1995 when there was an increase in activity( in my opinion the 'flow' remains the same. It appears that when certain criteria is met that we see more of what is going on in the sky........

I could cite many cases, like this, the one that I found poignant was a woman from Attelborough Norfolk who said in her letter, " I hope that I live long enough to find out what these things are" She passed away many years ago.

Likewise the Police Officer(now retired) who I spoke to today said, “ I will go to my grave knowing that what I saw and what I experienced was so out of the ordinary It cannot be explained away”

David Bryant rang, he is now a valued and trusted friend who shoots straight from the hip! a no nonsene man and as straight as a dye! He has given much support over the years and is a credit to the the UFO subject.

Albert Rosales has also been in touch letting us have more details of his up to date catalogue of not only strange craft seen in the World wide skies but their even weirder occupants! Well done Albert I will post up your picture when I find it!

Margaret Fry rang me today with the sad news that her life long friend Alan Hilton passed away on the 6th of January 2012. We offer our condolences to Alan's partner Barbara Rankin. Alan is shown here with Dawn during a vist to Bexleyheath London a few years ago with Margaret Fry.

This was in response to a UFO filmed over Swindon by a local man.
This letter was sent to us by Pat Smith she and Kath Smith ( no relation) were responsible for producing many 'UFOLOGS' an original UFO Magazine along with Leonard Cramp
of the Isle of Wight UFO Society. Kath Smith still asks me now "Do you think they will ever relase the truth about UFOs to the public?" My Answer- not for many years if that!
Two of my favourite girls! Corrina and Prudence Downes (No Prudence is not doing that!) and no she is not related to Lord Prescott.!
Taken at Rendlesham Forest a few years ago. no idea what it is,but I have to say that we also came across a photo of a tiny flying saucer just above the tree line. To the naked eye it was saucer shaped but when enhanced lost a lot of its image and didnt look saucer shaped any more, this was not due to any pixealation in my opinion. As Don Ramkin will tell you its a very eerie place at night and he like us has experienced the fall of a warm stone.
By the way Don give my love to the cats and wish Gemma the kitten a return to full health, following her recent operation . I also hope Jean has got over her cold.

Well the good news is that finally after 3 days at the vets we've been able to bring our kitten home .Its really been a worry to have a kitten that was its normal weight , totally fine and playing happilly with its sisters to suddenly go downhill so fast and lose alot of weight , then to find out its got a twisted bowl and needs surgery it MAY not survive from , but you have to try don't you .

Thankfully surgery went well and each day we had to ring up for updates , but recovery was good and were told how well kitten was doing and that it had been eating and playing with its little ball they'd put in with it , then today we got the news that we could come and pick it up .

It does look funny with its little funnel thing on , but its had white chicken and abit of tuna in brine (thats all it can eat for 1wk little but often) , so after what its been through ( and put US through ) this is one kitten thats not being rehomed like its siblings as its got a loving home WITH US . Oh by the way John whats happening with Volume 4 Im desperate to get hold of a copy im only in my 40's

Close encounters

At 8pm 22nd October 1991 Bill Eatock from Hindley Wigan, then a UFO Investigator for Quest a UFO organisation headed by retired Police Sergeant Tony Dodd, was carrying out a test on some ‘walky talky radios’ he had just purchased, and was driving along a Country road , on a clear dry night with good radio reception, when he encountered a bank of fog, followed by a high pitched whining noise loud enough to hurt his ears.

“I instinctively bent down to check the car radio was off, which it was, my left ear and left side of the face felt as if they were burning, I was so agitated I pulled the wires out of the car radio and made my way home, where I went into the bathroom and saw the ‘sun tan’ down the one side of my face, then I was very sick vomiting up load of clear liquid, almost as if something had been pumped into me

My ear was also bleeding, wondering what the hell had happened I made my way to bed and felt like I was dying, and my Wife thought I had been in a car accident. The following day my body was aching all over, my ear was still trickling blood, and my face looked burnt on the one side, and I discovered what looked like puncture marks and bruises on my legs and body.

When I went to the Doctor’s, he asked me if I had fallen asleep under a sun lamp, and sent me to Wigan Infirmary for blood tests where I discovered that I had lost a number of white blood corpuscles.

The Doctor asked me if I had ever worked in a power station as my symptoms indicated exposure to an electro magnetic force field. After three days my condition stabilised and I was allowed to go home”

Bill decided to undergo hypnotic regression, hoping to learn more about what he viewed as a remarkable inexplicable experience having exhausted any rational explanation, and was shocked to discover after listening to a copy of the regression carried out that his worst fears had been realised, when he described what will by now become an all to familiar story involving being

“taken on board some sort of craft, and seeing several small large headed creatures who were accompanied by a tall human apparently in charge.’ Rather frighteningly I realised I was not the only ‘captor’ there I saw a girl also present her face was to be burnt into my memory”

Incidents like that described by Bill and so many other genuine people whom we met over the years, involving what appears to be representative of some form of alien behaviour seems impossible to believe, and in conflict with the very ideals of human life, but how does one explain away rationally what happened to Bill, and so many others (Source Wigan Reporter 27.12.96/2.1.97. ‘UFO Update’/Personal Interview)

Happy New Year 2012! Update on Haunted Series of Books

At the moment we are busy scripting the 5^th Volume, which we hope will run from 1972 to 1976 (inclusive) - fingers crossed! And John is checking over the hundreds of images and text for Volume 6, which is currently at 50K+ words and approx 90 pages, which may mean hopefully that Volume 6 could include 1978. Time will tell....

Telephone-wise it’s been quiet. I spoke to Philip Mantle tonight. He wants Volume 3 for his collection so we sent one. People have been contacting me about Volume 4 but there is no sign of it yet on Amazon.com. As soon as I have copies I'll forward some on to those who have clicked the button!

Brenda Butler has been in touch. Her new book is progressing and we wish her well with it. She tells me that there has been an increase in activity around the Forest, and that there have been many sightings of what look like 'Hooded Monks' walking along the forest tracks.

We have heard many such stories over the years. What and where these entities come from is anyones guess!

Another reminder that it isn't only stones that fall into Rendlesham Forest! We have heard of coins and nails falling from the sky but a plastic elephant! Fact is stranger than fiction! Here is what Don picked up!

And one of my favourite in 2004 by Licensee Peter Saxon whom we had the pleasure of meeting.

UFO landing Gloucestershire 1994

A married couple was driving along the A419 between Frampton Mansell and the Sapperton turn off at 9.49pm 15^th March 1994 heading towards Cirencester when they noticed a white light descending through the sky which they took to be a meteorite. Their curiosity aroused they decided to pull up to have a closer look at a point where they thought the ‘object’ had come down

"After stopping we were amazed to see in a field too our left at a distance of about 80-120yards a triangular white light close to some green lights which were darting about rapidly but becoming stationary from time to time, illuminating the ground with a pinky purple light which appeared to be about two feet above the ground. I got out of the car leaving my wife still in the vehicle and continued to keep observations for a few more minutes, during which time I saw green lights with conical beams illuminating the ground and moving about erratically I was not parked very safely, I decided to drive around to the other part of Sapperton Road north of the A419 which took me about six minutes when I reached that point I looked out and saw the green conical beams were still there going on and off. I then reported the matter to the Police at Cirencester at 10.20pm they said they would send a mobile unit to have a look “

We spoke to Ronald Ratcliffe an Amateur Astronomer from Malinslee Telford Shropshire about what he saw at 9.38pm on the 21^st of June 19991, while in the back garden taking in some air

” I was looking north when I saw a stationary object in the sky, lit up by the reflection of the sun, I estimated it was some 50miles away the length, its length being 2.5times the size of Venus at its brightest. After a few seconds it moved from right to left out of the Sun, then turned towards me as a grey mass, as it passed overhead approximately 800 feet in height an RAF Fighter Aircraft came up behind it, the Plane and the ‘Mass’ then went above the clouds and I lost sight of them for goo

At 11.24pm 22^nd June 1991, a number of people had travelled down to Wiltshire to take part in a sky watch organised by the Beckhampton Centre for Crop Circle studies.

While overlooking the vicinity of Milk Hill Alton Barnes a large bright orange ball appeared flashing once and sharply defined against the black sky, was seen .Was there a connection with an earlier sighting of a red flickering glow on the horizon above Milk Hill seen to ‘switch on and off’ several times during the ten minutes of observation.? At 10.30pm 23^rd June 1991 an’ oblong cylinder with green and red flashing lights ‘was seen over Manor Road, Grimethorpe Barnsley by local resident, Peter Greenwich, who was walking his dog Butch at the time which ran around excitedly during the time the object took to pass over. Volume 5

Hi, everyone,we have been busy sorting out the images and script to be used in Volume 5
which we hope will include the period from 1972-1976. I am itching to get my teeth into
Volume 6 which may just cover one years activity ! This was an incredible period and began with a spate of UFO sightings in Wales during early February, many of which were brought to the attention of Randall Jones Pugh a local vet whom we had the pleasure of meeting at Roche some years. What worries us is whether we can fit all of this into one year, we shall see in due course!

Brenda Butler rang today and left a message with the seasons greeting, We are sorry that Colonel Halt is not coming this would have been a historic visit but hope he will come over at some time next year.

The lady who lives opposite me Mrs Hathaway tells me about a sighting over Alvechurch in 1962, when residents were astonished to see three 'discs' flying across the sky over the local Church

And Geff rang up telling me about a very strange incidnet that occurred in the early days of Talk Sport when they interviewed an ex RAF Officer about a sighting during the cold war.
I thought I was going to know what he was on about, but was suprised when Geff told me that the RAF man's conversation was cut off in mid air, as soon as he mentioned that the first RAF Jet went into a cloud on an intercept course, and never came out! I have no idea about this matter whatsoever, but see no reason to mistrust the version of events as given by Geff.

VOLUME 5 will cover some very interesting cases they will include two sightings of UFO's
towards the end of 1972, when the occupants were seen! And other cases where framents or debris has been recovered from the scene following a UFO sighting. There will also be many illustrations in this Volume and visits to Cradle Hill Warminster. You will read of Giants, Humanoids, strange leaping men, weird 'sashed' entities, intercept by RAF Jets and a few ghosts! Unbelievable not chillingly true!

Its Christmas Eve and our friend Kevin Goodman has popped in to see us. We spent time talking about tghe re-issue of his book next year and general chit chat. He left with a copy of Volume 3 and an Aunt Bessie lemon meringue pie, with instructions not to eat frozen!
Kevin's claim to fame( as indeed was ours) was the pleasure of wolfing down an Aunt Bessie's uncooked pie during a vist to the Weird Weekend in 2011.After a couple of beers we didnt know the difference! ( If you like soggy pastry)

An example of the many reports which continued to be brought to our attention during the

making of Haunted Skies 4 came from Colin Reid, who told us about some unusual

airborneobjects he had seen over the years, beginning in 1954, while a young child playing

football in the street in Torquay Road, Torney Close, Sunderland, during the summer

holidays,with other children:

“A lady passing by shouted, “Look at that!”, and pointed upwards. I looked and saw a disc or ball-shaped object moving from south to north in the sky, at slow speed. It was about the size of the full moon. It was frequently changing colour from white to black and back to white. A male passer-by said it was a weather balloon, but this did not account for the changing colour, and we could see nothing attached to it to take weather measurements. It disappeared over the house tops.”

Another interesting report from Colin involved an incident in 1962, which was witnessed
by the crew of the Vessel, SS Spray, owned by Ellis & McHardy, Coal Merchants
of Aberdeen, under command of Capt Robert Andrews.

“One hour after leaving Aberdeen, on a moonless night, in calm weather, an “aircraft” showing several white lights flew at low level over the ship; there was no sound. It turned back and circled the ship once, before crashing into the sea. This was observed by 6 or 7 officers and crew.

The crash was immediately reported by radio to Aberdeen Harbour Office, who ordered the RNLI to launch the lifeboat and sent out the pilot cutter to assist ‘Spray’ with the search for survivors. A number of fishing vessels also joined the search.

They searched right through the night and during daylight next day. Nothing found. The ‘Spray’ resumed its ballast voyage to Sunderland to load coal back to Aberdeen. I was employed as a Shipping Agent in Sunderland and always attended ‘Spray’, knew the Master well, a typical Scot, serious, absolutely reliable. He had been Master of the vessel for many years.

Early next morning, a man dressed in typical London Civil Service ‘uniform’, including bowler hat and brolly, arrived in our office and asked when ‘Spray’ would arrive. He had come on the overnight sleeper from King’s Cross. The ship was due to arrive within an hour, so he waited and I took him to the ship, arriving as it berthed. He introduced himself to Capt. Andrews and asked for his report.

He was shown the ship’s official log book where all relative times and information were entered.

He wrote it all in his notebook.

He then said that a thorough check of all military and civilian aircraft had been carried out and all were accounted for. No aircraft had been lost. His tone suggested that he did not believe the story. (But if this was the case, why travel all the way from London?)

Just north of Aberdeen, around the headland known as Buchan Ness, there is the RAF base at Lossiemouth, and in the 1960s they would fly Lancaster Bombers from there with strange, large, ‘lumps’ on one side. I wondered how they could fly. I used to see them when I made voyages up the Scottish coast on our cargo ships. At sea there was a circle of white buoys around one mile in circumference with a red buoy in the centre of the circle.

These aircraft would make bombing runs to try to hit the red buoy. When a bomb hit the sea it gave off red smoke as a marker. So experimental aircraft were flying in that area, but Lancaster’s engines make a very loud noise, whereas whatever crashed off Aberdeen was silent.”

At 4am.on the 20^th January 1980, milkman - Fred Smith, was ‘on his rounds’ through the streets of Cove, near Farnborough, when he paused to look up at the clear night sky - still dotted with a few stars, with the promise of a fine day when he noticed an illuminated object in the sky approaching his position from the North. Thinking its was probably a high flying aircraft, or satellite, he continued to watch - his curiosity now aroused, and checked his watch - which showed 4.07 am.

“The ‘light’ had now increased in size and was beginning to take on a crescent shape, with a bluish haze around it. It didn’t look man-made. I began to feel uneasy. By now there was no doubt it was crescent shaped, with a bluish glow all around it, flying quite fast, at a high altitude, when I realised it was slowing down. Suddenly it came to a stop; hovering in the sky above Farnborough .I could feel the hairs on the back of my neck standing on end. After a short time, the ‘craft’ slowly turned around and accelerated away northwards, and was soon gone from sight.”

Fred tried to put it to the back of his mind and get on with his job, but fate was to decree this was not the only strange thing he was going to witness that early morning. At 5.26 am a Boeing 747 aircraft flew slowly through the sky overhead, followed by the appearance of the now familiar strange ‘luminous craft’ approaching across the sky from the North,

“Its crescent shape becoming visible, as it stopped overhead and began circling over Farnborough. I was spellbound. It was doing this sort of skidding motion - almost a sideways movement as it circled - then it flew inwards and stopped over Farnborough, again, completely silent for 6-7minutes.”Several minutes later, the silent glowing ‘craft’ turned again and accelerated away, northwards. Some interesting newspaper cuttings from past times. Good to see Budd! and thanks to that very nice man Pete Robbins for his kind words for us and Haunted Skies.

As the sun now begins to set on Volume 3, covering just two jam packed years, information that you could not have obtained from the MOD who tell us that their records were routinely destroyed before they decided to catalogue UFO reports- we now turn our eyes forward into British History and look forward to

seeing the 4^th Volume in production which covers the period 1968-1971.

Here are some glimpses into future UFO events..............which will be published in future Volumes! fingers crossed that we get past the 21st of December 2012!

UFO sighting over Birmingham January 1998

Sandra from Kings Norton Birmingham just off the Redditch Road, found her self unable to sleep after a spate of burglaries in the road, and was looking out of the window at 2am when she noticed a number of infrared security lights had been actuated in the road, wondering if the cause was prowlers or an animal she looked around for the cause and saw,

“Two strange objects adjacent to each other in the sky, one was a silver pear shaped light, the other an orange globe, about four times the size of a full Moon in size, hardly daring to breathe I watched them as they hovered approximately a couple of hundred feet off the ground above the house s opposite. Then they slowly moved away illuminating the ground below then as they headed off towards the Primrose Estate.”

In conversation with the couple who had no special interest in UFOS or the paranormal,we learnt after the event had taken place they had seen what looked like a ‘grinning monkey faced apparition ‘in the bedroom which promptly disappeared when the lights were switched on including a rather disturbing incident involving their daughter, which occurred in 1992,

“ My daughter was aged three at the time and running a high temperature we had problems contacting the family doctor and decided to keep an all night vigil at her beside while attempting to lower her temperature. At 5am she awoke and seemed her normal self, I asked her how she was she replied, Mummy a little man came from behind the curtain and gave me some medicine” (Source: personal interview)

Whether there was any connection with the appearance of the grinning monkey face, and British folklore which tells of an unpleasant spirit labelled the bogieman allegedly fond of haunting children and described as black in appearance with an ugly grinning face, short and hairy with a foul smell, is a question we cannot say.

Coincidently we were contacted by Karl Smith from Cleveland Middlesbrough who told of having been “plagued by strange entities seen at the family home “including what he saw visually as a ‘monkey face’ which he captured on photo, and sent to us along with an illustration, did he really take a photograph of something supernatural in origin or was this an example of simulacra?

Steven and Annie Clark from Audenshaw, Manchester were at home on the evening of February 9th 1998 when they saw ‘Two balls of solid bright light moving very slowly, the light on the top moved over the top of the other. They had three little bright lights on the rear flashing perfectly in time with each other several hundred feet off the ground, making a slight humming noise as they passed overhead’ In conversation with Steven who was to provided us with further information about the incident we learnt he was interviewed by UFO Magazine and Granada TV on at least two occasions and subsequently appeared in a documentary part of a six part series, entitled ‘Origin Unknown’ Steve ‘One thing which wasn’t publicized was that I had managed to look at the objects through a high powered telescope when I saw a small red light slightly offset from the middle of each object’ Another witness was Steve’s friend Mark McGlinchey who described seeing the same objects going over, his house some miles away. (Source Personal interview) At 3.40pm the same day’ three golden balls of light’ were seen heading across the sky over Rhoose looking towards Somerset gone within seconds.

Paul Coady from Langley Berkshire with a background in the aircraft industry was sat outside in his back garden at 2.45pm 31^st May 1998 watching various aircraft flying overhead on a warm pleasant afternoon. ‘All of sudden an object resembling an ice cream cone in appearance with a grey metallic surface passed slowly overhead. a few hundred feet off the ground. I was riveted with excitement and watched as it entered light cloud cover. After thirty minutes of waiting for it to come out of the other side I gave up after the cloud cover itself disappeared over the horizon’ (Source: personal interview)

Sarah Falkland from the BBC

Hada nice letter back from our next door neighbour, Sarah Falkland who is a presenter on BBC Midlands. At the time when she was living next door to us, she expresssed an interest in getting us some publicity. A journalist was on his way to us to do that when he was redirected to another more important task! In December 2011 we sent Sarah the 1st Volume. She wrote back to us saying this was a fascinating read, and wished us well for the future. What a lovely woman she is!Unfortunatly she advised us that 'not sure if we'll be able to cover on Midlands Today,but I know that I will enjoy it"

We have now returned from the delights of our latest excursion to Sunny Devon, we would like to update the bloggers out there with some photos of our visit and allow you a rare opportunity to see our dear Publisher and his CFZ team, Corrina, Prudence, & Orange Cat without whose help, we would not be writing this blog as there would be no Haunted Skies. Fortunatly History will record that there was!

Holiday pics. This was the sky during our journey along the M5 through Somerset- seemed rather fitting!This was during a visit to Tintagel Castle, set high on the rugged North Cornwall coast, offering dramatic views,and steeped in legend and mystery; said to be the birthplace of King Arthur. The castle also features in the tale of Tristan and Isolde. With a history stretching as far back as the Romans, Tintagel Castle is one of the most iconic visitor attractions in the south west. Mind you we did laugh when we noticed a wee seat for weary travellers, on the way in!

Boscastle what a lovely litle village, completely renovated following a flash flood on the 16th of August 2004, which caused extensive damage to the village. Residents were trapped in houses as the roads turned into rivers: people were trapped on roofs, in cars, in buildings and on the rivers' banks and the village's visitor centre was washed away.

Witchcraft Museum Boscastle, if your wondering what the Witch looked like, here she is!

Two Royal Air Force Sea King rescue helicopters from Chivenor three Royal Navy Sea Kings from Culdrose one RAF Sea King from St Mawgan and one Coastguard S61 helicopter from Portland searched for, and assisted casualties in and around the village.

It was the largest peacetime rescue operation ever launched in the UK. A total of 91 people were rescued and there were no fatalities, only one broken thumb. Around 50 cars were swept into the harbour and the bridge was washed away, roads were submerged under 2.75 m of water, this made communication very difficult for the citizens of Boscastle. The sewerage system burst and due to the health and safety reasons Boscastle was declared inaccessible. Boscastle was flooded again on 21 June 2007 although the scale of devastation w

as not nearly as bad as in 2004.(source Wikpedia)

This is Superdog Prudence, who we adore!

We intended to make a reference to the following information irrespective of it being on the other side of the 'pond' How we wish that we were compiling Haunted Skies the USA version. Common sense dictates that if this was the case, each Volume would probably cover a six/12months period! So in effect this would mean 60 books up to 2000 plus another ten to bring us up to date! But they tell us that UFOs do not exist! This is what was going to written into Volume 4 at the end. But we ran out or room.

Having more or less covered the British UFO events of 1971 (to the best of our ability) we decided to include a number of sightings that had taken place in the Maryland area of the USA, simply because - while in general our books are about the British Isles - UFOs do not obey any boundaries, and it sometimes of occasional interest to contrast events that have taken place many thousands of miles away.

At around 10.30pm on August 1^st 1971, Mr. Charles P Kenyon (39) of New Windsor, Maryland, and his wife and children, were watching a storm at Westminster. After watching it for some 20mins, they noticed an object, showing a bubble like protrusion at one end, and pulsating amber light on top, clearly seen during flashes of lighting . The object was seen to pass within 3000ft of the family vehicle at a height estimated to be 2-3000ft. Mr Kenyon:“It emitted a high-pitched whine, while similar to an air conditioning unit, during one of its passes, and appeared to turn on what appeared to be a white landing beacon on the ground below.”

At 8.15pm on 8^th August 1971, James Key of Frizellburg (near Westminster) was with at least twenty other family members gathered for a family picnic, when they saw a bright disc-shaped object heading in a north to south direction, at a speed estimated to be 200mph ‘emitting lots of light’.At 9.00pm on 12^th September 1971, a large dark object, showing four large lights, was sighted over Woodbine M.D, accompanied by a humming noise, and a beam of light that switched on and off. (This may have been the Goodyear Blimp, according to NICAP Investigators.)

At 8.00pm on September 22^nd, two state troopers and game wardens from Pikesville, north-west of Baltimore, reported having sighted a buff or cream coloured light, showing a red and green light rotating around it, over Easton. A second similar object was sighted in the same vicinity, both UFOs being in view for three hours. Interestingly, officials at Dover Air Force Base confirmed they had picked-up one of the objects on radar.

Three bright lights were sighted on the evening of the 2^nd December, over Adamstown, by local youths. This was followed by a sighting on the 14th December 1971, when a bright light was seen circling over the nearby community of Holiday Acres, by a College Professor, State trooper, and several residents of Cavetown M.D, at around 11.45pm. A subsequent investigation showed that the same (or similar object) had previously been seen in the sky by others, at around 11.00pm.

At 7.00pm on the 30^th December 1971, a bright ‘light’ was sighted hovering over power lines at Brunswick.ccording to the witness, the object was bright enough to light up the surrounding area, but went out as an aircraft flew overhead. This was not the end of the activity. A large glowing object and eight smaller ones were seen on the same evening in the sky over Frederick M.D. One of the witnesses was an employee at a local radio station, she said at the time.

“I was making a delivery at 9.30pm, when I saw two red lights I took to be an aircraft, until they suddenly seemed to fly apart and then approach each other vertically, at the last moment. At this point a large, brilliant bluer white light was seen near to the right of the Moon’s position in the sky, accompanied by other smaller red lights manoeuvring independently at fantastic speeds. A truck driver stopped after he thought I was in trouble, and I showed him the lights. I then drove to a telephone booth to report what I had seen, but found two men already there talking to the Police. A few minutes later, one of the men stormed out of the booth and said to me, “They told me to take two aspirins and go home to bed.”(Source: NICAP UFO Investigator, January 1972)
