I knew him for several years from 1960, when I was a teen-aged boy and we belonged to the same church. I admired him for his ernest and irrepressible zeal, which he shared with anyone who would listen - and he harboured great funds of knowledge, not only of his academic and professional subjects but of many others, of which the steam railways and the flying saucers are particularly pleasing to recall by one who was then a small boy.
